Cindy Ashes

The above design was created by Cindy Ashes, a graphic designer from Taiwan.

I very much enjoy her designs because of the they are clean and illustrative. I like her illustration, it has a very fresh and organic feel to all of them. I also enjoyed the water color feels to all of them. Really nice designs.

Pierre Mendel Poster

This is a poster designed by Pierre Mendel for Bavarian State Opera in 2004. It's a good example of showing the power of minimalism. I always enjoy the design like this. It's all about the idea. Also, the strong contrast of the color plays an important role. A simple design like this really makes people think. In addition, the text on the right perfectly balances the graphic out.

Menu Inspiration

The menu was designed by Sam Prz. I personally love the design because how he lays out all the images. I like how they are cropped out. Also, the color choices are pretty neat. I especially like the orange back cover. In addition, making the edges diagonal gives more energy to the design.

Graduation Exhibition Poster

This was designed by a Japanese Graphic Design student. Her name is Shunsuke Sugiyama. It was created for her graduation exhibition.

I enjoy this piece because it created the sense of unknown. College students always get lost somehow after graduation, and this piece expressed those anxious feelings quite accurately. It's not complex work, but the designer must put in some thought.

Food Film Festival

This was a flyer designed for a Food Film Festival in Amsterdam.

I just love the colors. It directly draws my attention. Also, the geometric shapes of the fruits make them pop. Simple design, but a lot of thoughts.

Cover Designs

The left cover was  designed by Emjil Ruder in 1955, and the right was designed by Jose Zimmerman in 1960.

These were really old designs, but they still had very modern feels. I found them on a personal blog, and I enjoyed how simple elements and space could create great compositions.

Netflix Campaign

I found the design on Communication Arts' 56th Design Annual.

These are minimalist movie posters for Netflix titles--Life of Pi, House of Cards, and Ghostbusters. And the campaign line is "You gotta get it to get it." I personal very enjoy minimal designs because it leaves you the space to think and imagine. The campaign line perfects fits the style of the designs. The colors used formed great contrast. I believe, most of the time, designers should spend most of time on developing concepts, rather than creating the artwork. Ideas are always essential.
